Alpha-tography Challenge

Alpha-tography Workshop          Wednesday, May 27, 9:30-10:30 a.m.            City  Room           3rd thru 12th Grade

Can the Kinsley Library kids and teens find the alphabet in the environment?  That is the challenge.  Grab your digital camera (or team up with a friend who has one) and go on a hunt for all the letters – both upper and lower case.  Some are easy to find, like O and X, but can you find a G or an f?  We’ll post them on the library website and see if we can come up with every letter in the alphabet.  Here are nine easy rules:

1.  You can work alone or with friends.  Or it might be fun to have a party with an alpha-tography scavenger hunt for an activity.

2.  Be sure to submit the name/s of the photographers with your images to give credit when it’s displayed in the library and on this webpage.

3.  Pictures must be taken within Edwards County.  The letter should be the dominant image in the photograph, that means, get close up or crop the picture in the computer before you print it.

4.  Pictures of actual letters are not eligible (for example, a picture of P in the Palace Theater sign is not acceptable.)

5.  You may NOT manipulate objects to make a letter.  For example, do not break and arrange sticks in the shape of an R.  You CAN manipulate the photograph by turning it sideways or upside down.

6.  If several photographs are taken of a tire for O, for example, only the first one submitted will be published.

7.  Pictures should be submitted to the library digitally.  This can be an e-mailed, j-peg image (kinlib@kl.kscoxmail.com), or you can bring the image to the library on a disc or flash drive.

8.  Photographs will be changed to Black & White images and published on the website and printed in 5” X 7” size for display at the library. When you take or crop the picture it should be a vertical 5" X 7" proportions so when we spell a word with the letters, they will all be the same size.  The P (above right) is not the right proportions; it shoule be wider.

9.  You Must use your imagination and have fun.
